2 years after their debut album, Black Peaks return with 'All That Divides' – exploring themes of freedom, conflict and even how aliens from Mars built the pyramids. Released through Rise Records on 5th October, this could be a serious contender for Rock album of the year.

Opening track and lead single, ‘Can’t Sleep’ perfectly balances the versatility in Will Gardner’s vocals – switching seamlessly between aggressive shouting and reverberated melodic hooks.

Highlights of the album include ‘Aether’ and ‘Eternal Light’ – both allowing time to build slowly and making each impact even more effective. With longer track lengths, the band are able to experiment with more themes, creating an auditory journey on each song. Bringing the album to a close ‘Fate I & II’ is the perfect example of this – packing what could be three tracks worth of content into one comprehensive masterpiece.

It wouldn’t be fair to review this album without mentioning its outstanding production.

Known for his work with Muse and Foo Fighters, it was an inspired move to enlist Adrian Bushby as producer who has taken Black Peaks’ raw energy to a powerful new level in their recorded music.

Listening all the way through, 'All That Divides' feels like a complete project. It’s refreshing to see a band release what could be considered as a ‘long’ album of such consistent high quality. Despite what many in the industry are saying, Black Peaks are proving that the album format is certainly not dead.
