Interview With 'WHISKY STAIN'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hey. We're Whisky Stain from Nottingham and London.. it's a long distance relationship!

We are Robert Lavington and Luke Grainger. We met in a workings men pub in Cheshunt Hertfordshire, introduced by a mutual friend who worked behind the bar. Luke had a broken arm at the time and told me he played the drums, made for a good conversation starter!

We started jamming with some friends and created an instrumental outfit called Tesla's Kiss. We quickly realised that we can write songs twice as fast with just the two of us and Whisky Stain was born.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Prior to Whisky Stain Rob was studying music with aspirations of being a musician of some kind whilst working in social care. As with every young man, Luke was wondering what on earth to do with his life, his quest continues.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

We've a 6 track EP set for release late September. We wrote these tracks specifically for the record so we've pushed our usual song writing boundaries. 'Time Waits For No Man' and 'Skelatone' are both singles from the EP that are available now from all online retailers. Dean Jackson of BBC Introducing described Skelatone as being "A powerful powerful track,, catchy as you like"

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Not really... but the bass player from Spiritulized did crash into my car once, he made quite an impression!

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

An energetic and lively performance. We riff hard and enjoy every moment of our gigs. We want people to have a good time and rock out with us.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

BRMC, just so we got to hear them play each night.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Johnny Cash for sure. I'd ask his opinion on the new plastic ten pound notes, brexit and the Sugar Tax. I'd ask him to read us a bed time story also.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Definitely.. but it's ok to watch it throughout the year.
