Interview With 'The Lotus'

Firstly, introduce yourself/yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hi everyone, we're The Lotus from Italy and we play Rock (that's very 'Motorhead'). We are actually based in Manchester since 2015 and we've been around for more than 10 years now. We have released one full album and two EPs, and we are currently working on our new album with Muse's early producer, Paul Reeve. What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations? To be honest we've known each other since we were 15 so this was definitely the path we chose since the beginning. We always knew we didn't want to have normal jobs, normal lives, and this band was our only way to escape and so we decided to move to the UK to find success. Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out. Well, our latest EP was released in June 2015 just before we moved to the UK. Its name is 'Awakening' and is actually a mini concept album. It's an ambient Prog Rock opera which will delve into your inner core. We are currently producing our new album but we have already released three new singles: 'Mars-X', 'Perfect Love' and 'Five Days To Shine'. They are very different from our past works, simpler song structures, more melodic but still very 'creative'. Someone said: 'If Muse and The Deftones met in a pub and had a cheeky couple of Sambucca’s and hit the town and ended the night with a ride on a spaceship, that’s exactly what this song sounds like.' Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why? We've got in touch with many people within the music scene and industry recently. Working with Paul Reeve has been one of the greatest times ever though. Speaking with someone with a great experience and knowledge like him is a thing we would recommend to any new band out there. Just work with a producer.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect? Even though we don't play Heavy Metal, our live shows are pretty aggressive. We have that kind of live approach. We try to let the audience be completely overwhelmed by our music both physically and mentally. In the future we will implement some interesting lights effects though. If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why? It might be a little bit banal, but we would love to go on tour with Muse. I think it would be our dream, but also Muse's nightmare, lol! Just because we're crazier than them! :) You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about? We would normally say Freddie Mercury, but I think we would rather love to spend one hour with David Bowie to ask him if he's really from Mars? That would be really interesting! And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie? Die Hard is one the greatest Christmas Movie ever.
