Interview With 'Scarlett Cook'

Firstly, introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Scarlett Cook, pianist singer composer in.. Scarlett Cook. I have been playing piano since a wee child. I wasn't that interested in the piano early on, instead I became more immersed by guitar driven Heavy Rock bands. That then lead me to come back to the piano with a different approach and I discovered myself writing Heavy Melodic Rock inspired piano that has parts with classical running through it = Classical Grunge Piano.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Music has always been my number one chosen path, but one of my earlier pursuits was middle distance track and cross country running which I did in my former years to a serious level. My other main aspiration has been to do something positive for the environment, which is another field I studied in. The demise of nature and the planet is also a reoccurring theme that can be heard in my music.

Tell us about your latest releaseand why our readers should check it out.

My last release was a single entitled 'USER' and an accompanying film clip. There is a piano and head banging. There is also a rude dinner guest who fucks a lot of food with his face.

It will give you a taste of whats to come from my next recording, which will be a full length album.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

There are a few that spring to mind. I met Charles Bradley a couple of times. He was sincere, pure at heart and despite all his struggles, unconditionally loving. That is relieving and inspiring, and even more so since he passed away last week.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

Unconventional Piano. Sentimental melancholy madness. A tranquil riot with a pianist on a precipice of potty mouth.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

I love Tool. Or Nick Cave or Chelsea Wolf could work well.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Kurt Cobain. Why aren't there more Sea Horses?

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Of course. People seeking safety and shelter at that time of year, is much like the nativity.
