Splitxlip - 'What You Waiting For?' Single Review
The debut single from Splitxlip “What You Waiting For?” is memorable, energetic and emanates with the attitude you’d expect from a punk/alt rock band. It does a great job of commenting on the way a lot of society feels lately; stuck in the “I should do that..” loop or waiting for things to simply happen for them.
Mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons), you’re immediately greeted by the front and centre vocals, their delivery punching their way into your ear and capturing your interest. The spoken word section reels the listener further in and gives the song a few extra levels with the pace of the section creating a sense of urgency which the song seems to be encouraging.
Bouncy chords and easy to remember lyrics lift the listener up and it’s easy to envision this being a crowd pleaser in a live setting, it’s upbeat and infectious - a very strong debut single and I’ll be looking forward to hearing more from this band!
