The Cadillac Three - O2 City Hall, Newcastle 30.08.2022

I last saw The Cadillac Three at the arena opening for Black Stone Cherry alongside Monster Truck and I vowed then I’d not miss them again. So here I am both legs in compression bandages in a hot Newcastle City Hall “not missing them“ and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Having Lindsay Ell open for them on this tour is a great move, I went in not knowing much other than she is an award winning Canadian Country artist but wow she won the crowd over big time tonight! Just her and her drummer and they rocked the city hall to its core. Great songs great guitarist!

TC3 took took to the stage to a huge welcome and straight away got the Geordie throng onside with tales of their day off taking in all the beauty of our city! That day off must have been needed as the boys seemed really chilled and relaxed picking songs from their repertoire with no visible set list to hand. We had the likes of 'Peace Love' and 'Dixie', 'Bury Me In My Boots', 'I’m Southern' and more from the back catalogue but also a good helping from the two 2020 releases 'Country Fuzz (Hard Out Here for a Country Boy)' and 'Tobasco' and 'Sweet Tea' where they became a quartet bringing Lindsay Ell on to add more guitar and groove to 'Head Over Wheels', Sweet Southern Spirit' and the title track. As said earlier the vibe was so relaxed it felt like you were at a friends having a beer watching them jam, even to the point of Jaren taking a seat on the monitor to rip out a searing solo where so many others would be preening and posing while doing it! And streaming a song live to his family mid set.

Their style of hard Southern Blues Country Rock is a winner here in the North East and even if the guys can’t understand a word of what is being yelled at them due to accents they certainly know the crowd is loving every minute with the reactions to each song. The set flies by and before you know it the hall is filled with the Nashville Geordie choir singing “This is where I was born this is where I’ll die” as The South brings the show to a close and me hobbling down the stairs once more swearing down I’m not gonna miss them again!!
