Tracklist:

  1. The Leader of the Exploited

  2. My Immolation

  3. Call from the Void

  4. Genocide of Man

Are you looking for an EP that will bludgeon you with sheer power and raw enthusiasm? Then you have come to the right place! This debut EP from Soulfracture is brain-bashing, head-banging metalcore at it’s finest.

The four tracks here all sound like one cohesive whole, but unlike a lot of metalcore where one melds into the next with no specific definition, each one has its own feel and really knows what it wants to do, and the whole EP is stronger for it.

My favourite track is probably the second – “My Immolation”, Hard to pin down exactly why, but the combination of the opening riff, the chorus, and just the fact that of all the tracks it’s the one that stayed in my head the longest after listening. That’s not to take anything away from the other tracks, as they are all great, but something about that second song really makes it my favourite.

But having said all that, the breakdown in “Call from the Void” is also incredible, as well as the lead guitar work in “Genocide of Man”. As you can tell, I find it hard to single out one particular part of the EP that is better than others, but rest assured it’s all very good indeed!

My only real criticism of it is that the production is a little muddy – not to a huge detriment, but when an EP is like this one, on the verge of excellence, it’s a shame that some of the playing is a tiny bit lost.

But that is a really minor criticism. In short, this EP is great. It’s raw, vicious, and a perfect thing to listen to when you just need a short, sharp shock of metal in your life (which for me, happens pretty regularly!). Highly recommended!
