Interview With 'The FullBug'
Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
We are The FullBug, Lavy Josephsohn, lead vocals and guitars, Nadav dori, Guitars and vocals and Jessie Dori on drums.
Lavy: I met Jessie when he was the drummer for a band called “Got No Shame” in 2007, I was in my own band, our bands had a few shows together back then. A few years down the line, in 2010, I joined his band and we went on our first US tour.
Jessie: So around 2012 our old band broke up but Lavy and I kept writing music with different musicians forming "Project Revival“ with a new frontman. My brother Nadav jumped in on guitars around 2013, then we went on to record our first album together. Shortly after the album was done and released, our frontman left to do his own thing and we were stranded again.
Lavy: We decided to keep going no matter what. It actually made it a bit easier to have fewer people involved and we were not interested in doing live shows at the time, so there was no need to look for the new band members. We came up with a few songs and figured I should be the one to sing them.
After the EP was done, we felt it would be better to release it under a new name. Finally we all agreed on “The FullBug”, after a Van Halen song, slang for “Give it everything you got”.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
We’ve all started playing music at a young age, playing with friends, Trying to write songs and perform them.
Lavy: It was clear to me that I wanted to spend most of my time writing and playing music. I naturally was attracted to Punk Rock music, “Drugs Are Good” by NOFX was the first Punk Rock song I'd heard,
And I kind of fell in love with everything about it, from the drums to the guitars to the lyrics. Over the years, two guys and I started a Punk Rock band and down the line we had the privilege to be on a bill with NOFX when they visited Israel, it was awesome.
Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.
Anyone with a hot passion for loud guitar riffs should give “Black Hole Syndrome” a listen, it’s short and to the point, no fillers, only thrillers. This EP like many other albums we’ve put out over the years in different bands was produced independently. This time we decided we want another set of ears we can trust. So we collaborated with Daniel Brecher (Drugstore fanatics), a talented musician and mixing artist, who helped us get where we wanted soundwise, a big epic Rock sound.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
No one in specific. We have come face to face with a couple of known musicians (no name dropping). They were pretty humble, You get awestruck immediately without even realizing. Then you’re trying to stop yourself from acting like a groupie, but it’s stronger than you and you ask to get a picture with the guy, like any other shmo…
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
You can expect an energy bomb exploding and melting your face away.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
Well, we have a few in mind.
Lavy: Stone Temple Pilots, one of the best Rock bands out there, it would be a dream come true. I’m heavily influenced by their music, I can listen to all of their albums in repeat.
Jessie: There are really too many to name, but if I had to pick just one... it’ll be opening for Ozzy in “No More Tours 2”, It’s a perfect match I promise you.
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Lavy: Dean deleo (STP guitarist/songwriter), I would love to know all about his workflow when writing a song, or go into a studio with him, just to watch him at work.
Jessie: John Bonham, I’ll just ask him to play for an hour while I stare… then I'd cry like a baby when he leaves.
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
Someone has set out to ruin the good reputation of Die hard and we won’t be a part of it.
