Interview With 'Celeb Car Crash'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hi Guys, Celeb Car Crash is a Rock band formed in 2013 by four guys that loved to play their songs, play loud and be on the road. We Have made a couple of full length album “ Ambush!” and “People Are The Best Show” and one EP “Mucha Lucha”. We’ve played many gigs in Italy, U.K., France, Netherlands. We play Modern Rock with a solid 90’s Attitude. We shared the stage with many other bands, but we had some highlight gigs touring with Lacuna Coil, Coheed and Cambria and other main Italian acts. We won The Red Bull Music Contest, so we have recorded at the Red Bull Studios in London, and we had our old single “Because I’m Sad” and other songs aired on Virgin Radio Italy (Major Italian Rock Radio Station). Now in 2018 we had a line-up change and the formation is: Nicola (vocals/guitar), Miky (Drums), Alex (Bass), Simone (Guitars/backing vocals). We are starting the first leg of the tour in Italy on the 27th of April in Milan; then, we hope, Europe and other countries with our new EP “CCCover”.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

The priority is to survive and play, anyone who has been part of a band knows that the band is like a family and it's a job like any other. Everyone has very specific tasks. Surely the semi-professional music requires that we do many things inherent or not related to music to live. In these difficult times in general for art, each of us has different jobs. Doing what you like is already a dream come true and true passion for music often determines the path you take.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

'CCCover' is our new EP, it’s a Cover-Songs Ep. It consists of five songs: 'Sledgehammer', 'My Favorite Game', 'Helter Skelter', 'Time To Pretend' and 'Ashes To Ashes'.

We are a band that makes original music but we have already done a rearrangement of Bran Van 3000’s "Drinking In L.A.” and after two albums and one EP we wanted to challenge ourselves in a new way. We hope that the listeners will find our energy in these reinterpretations. We have always been fascinated by the evocative capacity of the songs of artists that have changed the history of music, such as David Bowie, the Beatles and Peter Gabriel, we have added to these sacred monsters a couple of songs, which we like to call “The Bets ", two singles that have been a huge success in the years they came out," My Favorite Game "by the Cardigans and " Time To Pretend "by MGMT, two bands that have always moved intelligently in the Pop and in the Indie genres. With a lot of humility and respect we wanted to give our personal angle and mood to these pieces of musical history, we did not miss the influences of those who preceded us and those who had already tried to rearrange them. Keeping our feet on the ground, however, we tried to add other nuances to these masterpieces.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

We toured with Lacuna Coil and we were impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the band. They are a war machine on and off stage. There also other Italian bands that are really awesome. As audience members we’ve really appreciated, Qotsa, Soundgarden, Biffy Clyro and other big international acts. Everything about Rock that is played with heart and soul left us awestruck.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

You should expect a lot of energy, power and melody. A rock show full of empathy, a cathartic celebration.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Sorry, another “too many answer”, but I think Foo Fighters can be a cumulative response, maybe they aren’t our favorite band of all time but the opportunity to be part of such a great and unique show for Rock music would be the chance of a lifetime. But we also settle for Metallica, or Alice in Chains or Muse, just to not exaggerate. ehehehehe

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

There are many, too many dead musical icons. It's hard to say who to chat with. probably Cliff Burton, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain. It would be nice to be able to converse about art and music with them and write a song together. It would still be impossible to steal the secrets of their genius, so maybe it would be better to talk about frivolous topics, maybe from the afterlife they also follow the new TV series, the movies and what the world is becoming .

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Die Hard is The Xmas Movie, together with Trading Places!
