BILK Release Debut Single 'Give Up'

Essex based working class Indie 3-piece Bilk release debut single ‘Give Up’ produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral) at Parr Street Studios, Liverpool.

Having all just turned 18 years of age Bilk write honest songs about the world they live in and the things they go through as teenagers living in modern suburban Britain.

The band spent last year gigging extensively in Essex building a strong grassroots following, leading to their debut play on BBC Introducing at the end of 2017.

Lead singer Sol Abrahams says the track is about: "The idea of not giving up your aim when you've got your surroundings and other things going on in life distracting you. Hence the 'trying not to flop my college course and then get employed" bit".

The name ‘Bilk’ was inspired by Sol’s Dad who is a London cabbie. Sol says: “Getting ‘bilked' is slang for when a cabbie (has a customer that runs off without paying the fare…”

With influences ranging from The Jam, The Streets and Arctic Monkeys through to Eminem and Dizzee Rascal, Bilk are a young Indie band inspired by the authentic attitude and message in Hip Hop and Grime.
