Interview With 'With Lying Eyes'

Firstly, introduce yourself/yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hey I'm Chris. I play guitar for With Lying Eyes and I'm also a music instructor at a local business called Island Music Company. With Lying Eyes started in 2009 but we established the solid lineup we have now in 2010. We are a Hard Rock and Metal band and basically came together in high school to play the really heavy music and to have fun. Then we started to get a little more serious around 2012 and began evolving our sound.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Prior to the band, we were all in high school just living life and starting to get into our instruments. I had no idea I would be so interested in guitar until I got more serious about playing in the band. I did want to go away to college and be some sort of creative writer but I guess I am writing creatively through music now, so that's pretty cool.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

Our latest release is an EP called "Light The Way", we recorded that with Andrew Baylis of Nine Shrines in Ocean City, MD and Cleveland, Ohio. This is a really solid Rock/Metal effort and has a little bit of everything from the Rock genre. Anything from Metal, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, and even a soft ballad.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

I did get to meet Shane Told of Silverstein at one of their shows. They have always been one of my favorites and are one of the bands who really got me interested in music when I was younger. I actually gave him a CD and he gave me some tips on how I could have gone about it better, haha. I don't even think I wrote the band name on the CD. But it was a cool experience.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

You can expect some good music and some head banging for sure. It's an overall good time and if you don't know our music it's all good cause we might throw a cool cover or two in there.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Honestly, it's a little far-fetched but Alice In Chains. They are my all-time favorite band and Jerry Cantrell is my favorite guitarist. I would do that in a heart beat but if could pick another band it would probably be Sevendust, they rock.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Again, Jerry Cantrell. He is a great songwriter and guitarist. I have no idea what we would talk about, probably just bullshit. If he wanted to talk about music that's cool but really I'm not sure, haha. Would be cool to just say what's up, you rock.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Sure, I think it has a Christmas tree in it. Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone is forsure a Christmas movie though.

Thanks for your time!
