Spotlight on 'Slam Dunk Festival What You Need To Know And Who To Check Out'

If you’re planning on attending this years festival then you need here is a break down of what you need to know and a few of the bands we recommend you check out.

Slam Dunk takes place over three days in three different cities. On Saturday the 27th of May, the festival will take place in Birmingham at The Nec. There will be a number of stages, indoors and outdoors. On Sunday the 28th the festival moves to Leeds City Centre, where bands will perform at a number of venues: the Millennium Square, First Direct Arena, O2 Academy and Leeds Beckett University. Finally on the bank holiday Monday (the 29th) the festival moves to the University of Hertfordshire campus. Each location is easily accessible by train and car and for Leeds in particular the venues are only a short walk apart from each other. Download the Slam Dunk app to get your hands on a site map. Upon purchasing your ticket you'll receive all the relevant info you'll need for wrist band collection.

2. Madina Lake

Despite calling it a day in late 2014, Madina Lake are back! There will of course be those who attend their set for nostalgias sake but don't for one second dismiss the enormity of this bands live show. Be it an audience of 4 or 40,000 they will give you everything they have. See them on the Impericon Stage - 8:40 - 9:25

7. Lizzy Farrall

Lizzy Farrall has recently signed to Pure Noise Records so this years Slam Dunk is a big deal for Lizzy. Make sure to get down early and support this up and coming talent. See her on the UPRAWR Stage - 1:40 - 2:05

8. Tonight Alive

Despite the controversy surrounding their most recent release and its detachment from their signature sound, there is no denying Tonight Alive are still pioneers of their craft and are responsible for incredible live shows. 9. Louise Distras

Louise’s path from hardship to heart-felt anthems began when she ran away from home, aged 16, armed with a guitar and the few chords she knew. Inspired by Nirvana and the Punk-Rock gateway the Seattle legends provided, Louise turned her back on the bullying that had made her life unbearable and decided to play music for anyone who’d listen.
