Interview with 'Demi The Daredevil'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

My name's Jeff Azar, I sing for an Austin, Tx Art Rock/Dark Theater band called Demi The Daredevil. Marc and Jovan (our old guitar player, RIP), started jamming and I was introduced to them by a mutual friend in high school.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Well, prior to us taking the band more seriously, I was trying out a bunch of majors in college. And I didn't have the motivation for any of them.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

Well the lyrics to the 'Secret Schizoid' EP were written in two psych hospitals, a tee pee, and an attic on the UT campus. They're existential and have a lot of internal conflict so it's really relatable.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why.

311. I was awestruck because they were the first 'Rockstars' I had ever seen at 13 years old.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect? A highly theatrical show. By that I mean we have some short dialogue clips, well really monologues because they are schizophrenic-like voices, on the backtracks in between songs that we engage with. And we try to get the audience to engage with us and those tracks at parts of the shows too.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Twenty One Pilots. Because we have similar subject matter, a similar audience, and they are just all around phenomenal. You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Tom Waits. Because he's a major wordsmith and he knows how to put his bipolar disorder to creative use. I'd ask him all about his Rain Dogs album.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie. Any movie with Bruce Willis feels like Christmas.
