Interview With 'Owleye'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hey guys, this is Tim (Vocals) DJ (Guitar) Dave (Guitar) Frank (Drums) and Brad (Bass) and we are Owleye from Denver Colorado. The band formed in 2013 with a group of friends that all had a similar passion to make some sweet sweet metal then Tim joined the band in 2015 and we started to really find our sound releasing our debut EP.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

We have all were playing in other local bands before Owleye formed, and we all know that music is our passion and our future. DJ has studied music all throughout school and Tim studied music business in college. As we have been growing up our passion for being musicians just grows within us.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

We just released our “debut” EP with all the current members titled ‘No Wound’s’. The EP is a good listen because there is something in there for everyone, it is really a rollercoaster of emotions with some super heavy dark parts and big bright parts. It really is an interesting EP cause the tone of every song is different, it all touches on different struggles we go through in life, depression, friendships, relationships, death but whereas most albums out there have a very underlying tone that blends all the songs together but with this EP we wanted each song to be its own entity and bring out its own emotions. Which is pretty neat.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

I (Tim) got to spend some time in the studio with Linkin Park and kinda watch them go through some stuff which was an amazing experience minus having to bottle up my inner fan girl emotions and try to play it cool, and they were some of the most down to earth dudes to talk to, I mean come on it was fucking LP!!

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

Basically we give it our all every single show and play like it is going to be our last show ever, with that comes a lot of energy. Just expect to be moving around with us and a very energetic atmosphere.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Well I mean Underoath’s next tour whenever that might be would be the coolest because it is Underoath and such an iconic entity. It would be an absolute pleasure to tour with Silent Planet, those guys are killing it and are some of the nicest dudes on the planet.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Wow this one is a really tough one cause the list is endless. So many icons throughout the years but in all honesty I would love to pick Dave Grohl’s brain. I mean talk about a guy who has changed the rock game on a couple different levels and just hearing his stories of the road and experiences, plus he is still living so it wouldn’t be all awkward with the whole “hey when you were alive” thing hahah.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Let’s answer that with a quote from McClane “Now I Have a machine gun, Ho, Ho, Ho.” It has so many iconic twists on every single Christmas movie plot.
