Dead Pony released their latest EP, 'Eat My Dust', on Friday the 15th of May on VIA ADA with a single, 'Boom!' also released the same day. It’s a prelude to their upcoming tour and hopefully a sign there is even more to come.

Dead Pony have been building a fanatical and growing following for some time now, their last album, 'Ignore This', was excellent so I approached this EP with real excitement as, having been a fan for some time now, I know how good they can be, they are on several of my playlists so would this EP live up to the quality of their previous output?

It’s an emphatic yes, 'Eat My Dust!' continues the journey they’ve been on to become one of the preeminent rock/metal bands the UK has produced. This is everything they’ve been so far with everything dialled up several levels. The have always had a swagger about them that other bands must be jealous of, but they seem determined to take that to a whole new level. If this is a taster for a new album at some point bring it on. This band can only be described as being gallus.

It’s packed full of hooks, of guitars, of attitude, of style and of such excellent melody that Anna’s vocals are the icing on the cake, and what icing. Anna has been evolving into something special, her stage presence and her singing just seem to be getting better and better but the whole band have raised the bar from where they’ve been before which, given where they have been, must be a bit scary for other bands.

Stand out tracks for me are the new single 'Boom!' and 'Lost Inside of Me' both of which close this 19 minute long EP and leave you instantly wanting to play it again.

Dead Pony are about to go on tour at the end of May, if you haven’t seen them live then this is your chance although many shows are already sold out and others have low tickets available but there are still some tickets, or there may be some on reputable resale sites. I have been lucky enough to see them live and can tell you that if you have got a ticket, you are in for a brilliant gig, although if you’ve been smart enough to get a ticket already then, I am sure you know that.

This EP is going to add to their live repertoire but also shows they are starting to stetch themselves. Its about time we had a brilliant rock/metal band taking on the world, for me the most obvious contenders for that role are Dead Pony.

Go buy this EP, download it, go to the tour and buy the merchandise, this is exactly the kind of band we should all be supporting in spades, hooktastic, melodic, brilliant music that is built to last and grow the bands already burgeoning reputation.
