Chasing Mallory have been on my playlists for some time now, admittedly for the combination of the fact members consist of friends of mine and they're a talent from my hometown, so there is always going to be a lot of love there.

But the fact of the matter is they're so fucking good. And have always felt to me like the band that could. Even with momentum shifts due to band members coming and going, they always retreat, reflect and rebuild and this new single has them sounding better than ever.

Due to my previous history with former lead singer Ash and my work in a previous band with him I will always have an affinity with his vocals. But his departure introduced me to the voice of Remi and god damn did I need her vocals in my life. I often try hard not to compare to other artists as others may not see the comparison but I often draw similarites to Halestorm's Lzzy Hale. Remi has that perfect blend of gritty rock vocal and pure harmony. Heart's Ann Wilson also comes to mind. Such power! And 'Brusied' continues to showcase her power.

And who doesnt love a good guiter solo. We need more solos in modern releases! There's a tasty little riff throughout that ends with a chef's kiss. I always think the sign of a good single is how well it will translate to the stage. And whilst I regret to say I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing them live, I've seen all the content of them doing their thing and I know 'Brusied' is going to slip perfectly into a live setting.

Chasing Mallory are one of those bands that need to be heard all over, their drive and effort is apparent and deserving of a wider audience. I really hope their first release of 2026 is a pre-cursor to a new EP or hopefully a full album.
