Catch Your Breath have produced an album of consistent metalcore goodness. Combining epic, soaring, choruses with moody and clawing verses and a light scattering of rhythmic breakdowns to boot, this album will hit the mark for Bad Omens and Rain City Drive fans.

Littering the heavier tracks throughout and the shorter length of the songs helps to keep the album moving along as the pace from one song to the next doesn’t differ too much, very much sticking to the pained-soul narrative which is popular amongst metalcore currently.

With lyrics rotating around the loss, love and not being treated well, the vocalists voice does a great job of portraying the anguish of which is being sung. With a very polished clean vocal, Josh still doesn’t shy away from hitting the listener with a visceral scream in songs such as ‘Blood Money’ which packs a nasty breakdown or two or in the song ‘Lost’ which lands more-or-less in the middle of the album offering a good, heavy, break for the listener.

Alongside ‘Blood Money’, the standout track for me on this album is ‘(Gen)inside’ which features Kemi Kehoe. I find the vocal melody shines in ‘(Gen)inside)’ as it’s the most different from others on the album and I, also, am partial to a nice breakdown which this song has.

Overall, the album is well put together, and the songs will appeal to a wide audience, especially those who are looking for songs for their soul to connect to. However, if you’re hoping for something a bit grittier and more energising – this may not be for you.
