Slouch - 'In My Mind' Single Review

“In my Mind” the new single from Glaswegian Alternative Rock outfit Slouch' is an upbeat slice of 80s themed fun - Musically “In Your Mind” has all of the usual hallmarks of classic 80s sounds put through a modern spectrum - driving warm bass lines, sparkling synth melodic hooks with lilting keys behind, interspersed with gritty subtle guitar work - all tied together with modern Pop energy.

Vocally Paul Burnett delivers a performance of lyrical nonchalance that you could argue is also in keeping with the 80s feel but it is also reminiscent of the British Indie bands of the early 2000s like The Arctic Monkeys or The Strokes. All thrown together and you have a push and pull between Indie Rock and the 80s and the combination is an enjoyable, head bopping good time.
