Banshee – 'Bubblegum' EP Review

I had no idea what to expect from this EP, the name of the band made me think Death Metal, the EP title Pop.

So what is it?

It's top quality music, first song 'Erased' takes you straight into the world of Banshee, fantastic rocky Pop with, at times, a harder edge. Excellent singing supported by a quality band, what’s not to like?

The second song, 'You Said', keeps up the quality, in fact there isn’t a song on this EP that doesn’t sound great. If in doubt give it a go, if you don’t like it fair enough but I think a lot of people will.

There is a familiarity to this band, you feel like they sound like someone you’ve heard before, without ever quite working out who it is. That’s a good thing, they have something going on here that’s new and exciting while sounding like they’ve always been here. It’s a great knack to have if they can keep it going.

My only quibble, and it’s a small one, is I would have liked them to try a change of pace with one of the songs, so I could hear what else they are capable of, one for the album perhaps?
