Our very own Brent Jones is excited to reveal his portrait of Paul Weller will be featured in this years British Life Photography Awards Book and in their traveling exhibition which kicks off at The Mall Galleries, London on Feburary 9th.
Now in its fourth year, The British Life Photography Awards is a voice and showcase for all photographers amateur or professional. Capturing and celebrating the essence and spirit of British life, through original, illuminating, thought provoking, humorous and poignant imagery.
There are ten separate categories; Rural Life, Street Life, Life at Work, Portraiture, British Weather, Brits on Holidays, Documentary Series, Urban Life, Historic Britain and a University Award.
Brent says - "I started going to gigs in 1978, seeing The Stranglers, Steel Pulse, The Buzzcocks, Devo, The Undertones, Boomtown Rats and many others. My first Festival was Reading 1978 with Patti Smith The Jam, Penetration, Sham69, Ultravox, John Otway, Squeeze and Status Quo. I returned the next year to see The Cure, Wilko Johnson, Motorhead, The Police and Peter Gabriel.
40 years on and I am still going to gigs and festivals but mostly as a Photographer. One of my personal projects has been to capture the players and legends from the late 70s and early 80s as they are now.
I am more than happy to say my Portrait of Paul Weller from this series has been highly commended and will be featured in the British Life Photography Awards traveling exhibition and book starting 19th Feb at The Mall Galleries London."
Brent's image of Paul Weller is part of a series of photographs entitled '40 Years On' with thanks to Brent we have been lucky to include some more images from the series below. So please take a moment to check them out.
