Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
We're 4 guys, Jakob, Rune, Johan and Victor, from Uppsala and we all have been around in the Punk scene for most of our lives, playing in different bands. We started out back in 2015 to do something different from what we had done before. Some of us played in Hardcore bands, some played Power Pop and all kinds of different stuff before this. So we started Rotten Mind to do something different basically, and it turned out to be the perfect band for us.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
We all played in lots of bands before Rotten Mind. But I think we didn't have the same way of thinking in these other bands. In the beginning we just started bands to get out and play and have a good time. We still have a good time playing this music, but it's also more the joy of creating something special, and I think that's a big difference from what we did before. I can only speak for myself when I say playing music is the only real goal I've ever had in my life. It's what I always wanted to do.
Tell us about your latest release and why our readers should check it out.
Our latest release is the "Restless Soul" single. It's from our upcoming album "Fading Into Oblivion". If you've never heard Rotten Mind before, I guess it could be described somewhere between Classic Punk Rock, Post Punk and Dark Wave. It's hard to describe. I'm really happy with the result of this new album, and for me, it's way better than the two albums before.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
I don't know, really. I think we meet amazing people all the time when we're out touring and stuff, but I don't know if I'd say I've been left awestruck. What I can feel is truly amazing in the Punk scene is that people do really come together to create great spaces for the music and people have each others backs in a way that I don't feel in most of the other places I go.
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
Energy and commitment. We always give 110% at every single show we ever do. When we can't do that anymore, we won't be a band anymore. It's our thing. We rehearse a lot and spend a lot of time trying to make our shows better all the time. That's how I see it, maybe you'd see something else.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
Ramones. If they were alive. Easily. That's probably the only band I could see every night for the rest of my life without getting tired of it. I think hanging out with Joey in a bar after the show would be sick too. That's something that would leave me awestruck.
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Hard question. Maybe Johnny Thunders. We'd sit in a bar on Manhattan talking about Rolling Stones and drink beer. I don't know why, and I probably wouldn't have any real question to ask him, but I think we'd have a good time.
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
