Interview With 'Tomma Intet'
Firstly, yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
My name is Mange Petersson and I am the lead singer and songwriter in Tomma Intet. Gittan Kock plays the keys and sings. Jacob Mårtensen plays Guitar and sings. Tobbe Standar plays the guitar and sings and Tobbe K plays the drums. I also play guitar and base. We like to think of ourselves more of a collective than a band so we change the setup sometimes. So if you read this and can bring anything interesting to the table don't be shy.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
Only music since early twenties. We have all played in different bands and toured here and there. Personally nothing else really matters compared to music and being creative. I would die without it. It’s the fountain of youth. The wall against all the madness. But if silence gets to me I would really like to become self sufficient and grow stuff. Or drive a train. Maybe work in a Cemetery. Stress is the word we are avoiding here.
Tell us about your latest release and why our readers should check it out.
It’s called ”…And The Fallen Universe” and it’s great! It’s out on Lövely Records in May. Both Vinyl and CD. It took a while to finish but we are really happy about it. It’s kind of like a journey. It starts with the song ¨I Leave¨ and ends with ¨Home¨ Some of the songs are influenced by the wall of sound and some of them are more stripped down in your face. We all sing on the album so it’s a lot of harmonies. Harmonies are really important to us. We absolutely love harmonies. So If you are into a unique blend of 60’s distorted guitars and harmonies and some space head synthesizers you should check it out.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
Most of the great ones are dead. But Tobbe Standar met Bruce Dickinson last year and I know he got shaky knees from that meeting. Oh I saw Swedish artist/rolemodel Stefan Sundström last summer. I really wanted to ask him to be me friend and maybe buy an Interrail-card and travel Europe together. But I was to sober.
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
A beautiful and trippy mayhem. With a twist of lemon.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
So many good ones. The Black Lips seems really fun to be on tour with!
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Half an hour with Keith Richards and the other half with John Lennon. We would talk about Villa Nellcôte and how they wrote this and that. And if Mark Chapman was in fact a result of Project MKultra. Or maybe all of us together having dinner with David lynch as head waiter.
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
I guess. At least for the guys in NRA. I only watch ”Karl Bertil Jonssons Christmas-eve” and then avoid the whole thing.
