Interview With 'Fear The Fallen'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hi, we’re Fear The Fallen. Christian – Lead Vocals; Dan – Lead Guitar; Sam – Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals; Rob – Bass; Matt – Drums.

Christian, Sam and Rob shared a love for the same type of music, and in late 2010 decided to form a band and with a few member changes, arrived at the line-up you see today.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Prior to the band, we all had varied careers including managing bars, working as an engineer in the submarine service and one member (not to be named) playing a five year game of “Hide the Sausage”, to which he is still undefeated. We all had a passion for music, and that passion guided us down this path. It’s never really something that was chosen, but something that we all just felt right.

Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.

“The Order”, to us is something more than an album. It’s something that we put our hearts and souls into. We didn’t want to create a document containing an unrelated mash of songs and just release it without any connection to the material. We wanted to create a story that meant something, and stood for something. It was a very emotional time for all of us, a time of love, loss, births and deaths. This rollercoaster was moulded into the album that you can hear today, which connects with everyone differently and we would love to hear what it means to you.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Over the past few years, we’ve had the opportunity to meet a couple of our idols. Opportunities include supporting The Answer, spending time backstage at the Isle Of Wight Festival and more recently, supporting Puddle Of Mudd. Most of us grew up listening to that band, so to support them was a massive honour.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

An energetic, fist-pumping wall of sound, guaranteed to get you on your feet… And also, probably some Disney or something… #whodoesntloveashowtunebreakdown.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Alter Bridge! Without a doubt, our favourite band as a collective. They’re always at the top of their game and it would be a dream come true.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Chester Bennington, without a shadow of a doubt. Not only because of his unique and powerful performances, but also because of his diverse writing style and incredible vocal techniques. It would also be interesting to speak to him about what was going through his mind at the time, such a sad loss…

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Yes. Hell yes. Yes cannot be said enough at this point. Being asked this question is like walking on broken glass, whilst taking fire from a submachine gun , “Welcome to the party, pal” – answer’s yes. Yippie-Ki-Yay, MF’s.
