Interview With 'Our Time Is Now'
Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
Ry: Hey! I'm Ryan and I play lead guitar.
Nick: I'm Nick and I play Bass.
Stu: I'm Stu, I sing and play guitar.
Sam: I'm Sam, I play drums!
OTIN came to be through Ry and Stu being in a previous band and it naturally developed into the band we are today.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
Ry: Bands are pretty much everything we have always worked towards, even though the odds are small of making a living from it, it is worth pursuing in my opinion as it is the dream we have all strove for our whole career. We have all played in various bands from a young age!
Stu: Same as Ry really! I have a pretty average job alongside the band! But musics all we want to do!
Nick: Exactly the same as the Stu and Ry!
Sam: I'm studying music along side playing music with my best mates! All I've ever wanted was a career in music!
Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.
We have our full length debut album "Freakshow" and our latest music is being released on a song by song basis including a reworking of "Dancing On My own". All our music is available on all streaming services, Spotify, ITunes etc.. Our latest single is called 'Sinking Ships'.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
Ryan: We managed to support Chunk, No Captain Chunk! and it was surreal to see those guys chilling out after following their music for a long time but they all turned out to be great guys and very welcoming!
Nick: My old band played alongside The Word Alive! That was a great moment!
Sam: I went to a Nickelback concert! Best night of my life!
Stu: I got to meet You Me At Six at Fall Out Boy's first ever show back in the UK after their hiatus! Amazing to just chill and talk music!
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
Carnage! High energy whilst maintaining our goal to make people smile while they watch us because its important to us to keep fun in our music or the whole affair could get terribly dull. Its all about the fans! We turn the music you hear on a CD into an experience like no other!
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
Ry: For me it would have to be A Day To Remember, I have followed their music for a long time and have inspired many things we have done as a band such as maintaining a powerful live show whilst keeping the catchy elements.
Stu: I would love to be on the road with State Champs!!! Best music and best parties every day and night!
Nick: You Me At Six for me! They have some killer songs and seem like a great bunch of lads to hang out with! Would be great to see them perform every night!
Sam: I would love to tour with Nickelback! They are like Marmite.. You either love them or hate them!
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Ry: It would be James Hetfield from Metallica. He is one of my biggest idols and inspirations for playing guitar. Hard to say what we would talk about but I would perhaps ask him about some crazy road stories from back in the day.
Nick: Nate Mendel. Hes the reason I started playing bass! I would be in total awe if I ever got to jam with him! I don't think i could hold a conversation!
Stu: Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy. FOB are the reason I started writing music! He's a true hero of mine! I would love to talk about how FOB managed to spiral up into true music icons!
Sam: Chad Kroeger would be amazing to meet! Would love to talk about the old NB days!
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
Ry: This is the question on everyones lips these days and I would have to say... No because true Christmas movies are things like The Snowman and The Grinch, not things blowing up. Controversial I know...
Stu: Not for me... Sorry readers
Nick: Nope I've never even seen it!
Sam: 100% yes!
