Interview With 'Before Sunday'
Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
We are Before Sunday and this band consists of Nik (me!) on the guitars and several other stuff, Stella on the vocals and Kostas on the drums/percussion. The band was founded in 2014 and we are based in London since then. We are working very well all together and we believe that we have the ‘formula’ and the potential to make exciting music!
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
We were all involved in several music projects, cover bands and busy with our individual endeavours… But when I met Stella we thought that it was about time to commit into something bigger and more ‘serious’ and create original music. We love music and it will always be part of our lives no matter what.
Tell us about your latest Single and why our readers should check it out.
Our brand new single release is called ‘No Destination’. It’s a well produced song with a lot of energy and grit, inspired by the edge of Indie-Rock and the jarring charisma of Blues with an R&B twist. Our EP will be released soon and is comprised of 4 tracks that we feel best represent our sound and the type of band we aspire to be. As you may have noticed, we like to blur the lines between different genres, including Pop, Rock and Alternative.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
My good friend and guitar tutor Vangelis Tsotridis from Greece. He is an absolutely fantastic musician and a very well-educated person. I really admire the way he thinks and the way he composes music, with either classical or electric guitar, all the way from free jazz to pop, this guy can see the ‘whole picture’ musically. I respect him a lot. A very talented person.
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
A variety of groovy, energetic, up-tempo and emotional vibes! Also lots of backing vocals and ‘rich’ arrangements on our songs! We always give 110% on stage regardless of crowd size.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
I think this band would be Muse! They are excellent musicians, successful and incredibly talented. We love their ‘sound’, their song writing and the arrangements of their compositions. They manage to combine so many musical influences in a very unique way. We would definitely love to go on tour with them!
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Probably Michael Jackson! He was a big musical inspiration for us. He was a musical genius who would write music for almost every instrument without even knowing how to play them! Very creative, innovative and fearless and simply the best entertainer of all time. His sense of rhythm was just amazing. I’m sure we would have a lot to learn and to discuss!
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
Definitely not! If it was, people would only talk about it during Christmas! Die Hard is an all year absolute classic!
