Interview With 'Charly'

Firstly, introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about you and how you came to be?

I am Charly, I am a musician, singer, composer, and songwriter. This project came to be because of a friend of mind Peace S. Nistades who encouraged me to release some of the music I created for short movies in the past few years. He actually helped me on the artistic production.

What were you up too prior to this project, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

As many musicians today, I have several projects. I am part of two bands Charly&Faust and The Sutra, compose music for many projects, work as sound designer for films, and now I also got my own solo artist project. Actually I am currently in the middle of recording for my new EP as an artist! The combination of all these experiences is what allows me to go further in my creations and work.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

I just released an EP called “Film Scores”. The tracks on it are songs I created for different short movies. This EP reflects pretty well how music can serve a good story. We can say it’s kind of my resume as composer for films. You can listen to it on all music platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and also on my website charlysolo.com

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Several times. Listening to Ben Harper singing a cappella in a giant venue in France without any amplification was pretty intense.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

Music.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

For this project I would say Hans Zimmer. Yes I am very ambitious! *laughs*

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Ludwig Van Beethoven, but it would be tricky to speak with him since he was deaf...

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

No. Mainly because I've never seen it.
