Interview With 'Dancing SCRAP'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

The whole thing started in September 2008 when I (Ronnie Abeille - singer/composer, nice to meet you!) formed THE.MAIN.ATTRACTION, a band recording its first album "In Spite Of All”, released by the German label Antstreet. After a few line-up changes, just before a tour that was to carry us in Germany, I stopped the project. In April 2012 I met Bobby Gaz (bass) and finally decided to continue the adventure with new components and a new moniker: Dancing Crap (now Dancing Scrap).

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations? My art comes first. All the way.

Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.

The latest album, our second, is less sharp than the first one ("Cut it out"- 2015) but at the same time is a step further, we worked a little more as a band. Why the readers should check it? Because it's free, funny and... sexy sonic alternative iron punk!

Who would you say is the bands main song writer or is it a group effort and where do you draw your inspiration lyrically and musically from?

I'm the main writer of the previous album, but when I'm not I'm involved in writing anyway. My lyrical inspiration always comes from life. I grew up listening to George Michael, Madonna, Scorpions, Queen, Guns'n'Roses. Later on I also discovered Girls VS Boys, Hanoi Rocks, Sex Pistols, Alice In Chains, Wildhearts, Stooges, Warrior Soul, Korn and N.I.N..

The other guys listen to thrash, death metal and Bauhaus, Dead Kennedys, Queens Of The Stone Age, System Of A Down. The funny thing it's not about our own influences, it's about which kind of influences people find listening to our debut! Some reviewers wrote Ozzy, Frank Sinatra, Prodigy, Waltari, Faith No More, T-Ride an Jane's Addiction!

As a band what do you believe is your greatest achievement to date and why?

Well, the aim is to cast a smile through the universe, to make people have fun and share some joy with them.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Yes. Kory Clarke, Warrior Soul's singer. We talked about so many things! He's a living legend, a real fighter.

What do you enjoy most about touring? I love to meet new people and talk about music. If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect? Come to our shows and you will know!

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why? Too many, too many! You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

I'm curious about Eddie Vedder and his way.

What comes next for yourself? I'd like to smoke a cigarette.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie? John McClane: "You throw quite a party. I didn't realize they celebrated Christmas in Japan".

Joseph Takagi: "Hey, we're flexible. Pearl Harbor didn't work out so we got you with tape decks". We just want to say thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.

My pleasure! Don't forget our next shows:

Nov 20th: Eagle Inn - Salford

Nov 21st: Rebellion - Manchester

Nov 23rd: Grand Central - Manchester

Nov 24th: The Victoria Biker Bar - Leicester

Nov 26th: Fiddler's Elbow - London

See you there!
