Interview With 'DREAMING OF JUPITER'

November 6, 2017

Firstly, introduce yourself/yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

DREAMING OF JUPITER are a three piece band from Dublin City formed by Zoë Gough, David Levins and Sam Oye. Having played with many different bands over the years, the trio came together to form a new sound which blends Melodic Pop with Electronica, New Soul and Trip Hop.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

All three of us started playing music a long time ago in different places. We can't remember a time where we didn't want music to be a central part of our lives. We have all worked on different projects over the years. In the end, we were all just looking for the right people to work with on a project of our own. Zoë and Dave had been working together for a while but when Sam came in to the picture, things just started to click and Dreaming of Jupiter came in to fruition.

Tell us about your latest EP/Album and why our readers should check it out.

Up until this point we have released two singles with plans to release an EP next Spring after we complete our upcoming tour. The new EP will show a slight shift in direction as we feel we are really finding our sound now and we can't wait to see how people respond to it!

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Kate Bush. (Full Stop)

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

We put everything into our show; energy, emotion and passion from beginning to the end. We always strive to ensure that every performance leaves a memorable impression of the band in people's heads. We perform songs both released and upcoming so that the audience will come away with something new each time.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Submotion Orchestra. They are a fantastic act on the scene right now and we love what they are doing.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

1. Stevie Wonder

2. He is universally an inspiration to musicians and non-musicians alike. He is clearly in love with life and music and we have grown to respect him greatly.

3. His passion and what motivates him to be who he is. I think we all could learn a lot from what he would say to that.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Die hard is a movie with many layers, like an onion. Do onions feature during Xmas? Definitely. So I think that anwers the question ;-)
