Interview With 'SKITARG'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

SKITARG is a 6-piece clown Metal band from Sweden. We combine Melodic Metal, Thrash, Death and Black Metal and sprinkle it with insanity, laughter, fart jokes and dildoesque violence.

SKITARG started as a recording project way back in 2005 between lead vocalists Barnet and Necrofilip. Since then the we have been playing gigs alla around Sweden and festivals such as Metaltown (2012), Bråvalla (2013), Getaway Rock Festival (2014) and Sweden Rock (2016).

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Barnet and Necrofilip met in 1998 and started playing together shortly after. The following years up to 2004 the two lead vocalists played in a band called HEAD. After flatlining HEAD, the two started the recording project for SKITARG, which later on gathered traction on the local scene. Since people liked the music, we had to get more band members.

Our aspiration is making you feel like all the other bands on stage are lazy, boring and pretentious. We dare you to walk away from one of our gigs and not be entertained.

Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.

Our fourth album, "Los Pulkerz" is a return to the original sound that made SKITARG a household name among Metalheads in the North. It is an ecclectic mix between visceral Thrash, melodic choruses, aggressive growls and virtuos riffing (with the odd Tom Waits-like song here and there).

Winter might be coming, but in Sweden you´re screwed either way unless you have a toboggan.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

This might seem like a scentence written to preface something, but it isn´t. We are still waiting to meet that special someone who strikes awe in us. I guess meeting Martin Westerstrand (Lillasyster, EX-Lok) and joining him on stage made my pants giggle a bit, seeing as I saw Lok at the Hultsfred Festival back in 2002.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

You can expect a chaotic, funny, violent, catchy and absurd live show, filled to the brim with dildoes, balloons and strong choruses. We leave everything on the stage and we dare say you´ll remember us for the rest of your lives.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Insane Clown Posse and Slipknot. Just to show those hack clowns what´s what.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

I would probably want to jam bass with John Bonham on drums. He and John Paul Jones are huge influences to my jamming style. I would also like to play metal guitar with Dave Lombardo and discuss neoliberalism with Dave Mustaine.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

No, it´s a small Death Metal band from Sweden whos drummer also plays in Watain.
