Interview With 'Hunting Holly'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hunting Holly started as a solo project for songwriter Jakob Tyson, but soon it became clear that the energetic and upbeat style needed an energetic and upbeat band to go with it. Since then we've developed into a roaring three-piece, and never looked back.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

All of us in the band have always had our eyes on the music scene. Bassist Jack Randall was working at a recording studio when Jakob came in to record some demos, which is how they met. Soon after they picked up drummer Jack Smith who was studying music at College. So it's safe to say that this is very much a passion project for all of us, and playing music is where we all want to be.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

"Don't-Forget-Me Blues" is our debut EP, and we're all super excited about it. It features four of our best tunes, which are catchy and emotional and revolve around the theme of romantic heartache. We recorded it live as a band, so it really captures the energy and passion that we put into our music, and produced at Blizzard Records who have a great sound to all their work.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

There are so many figures within the local music scene who deserve far more recognition than they get. Of all the bands we've played with and people we've met, there's some incredibly talented people who do what they do out of love for the scene. It's very inspirational. If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

Energy, dancing, great songs played well and a wonderful time to be had by all! We love playing live because spreading the energy and passion that we feel playing our music to the audience is a great feeling.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

I'm sure you'd get a different answer from each member of the band! But we'd all love to go on tour with anyone like Frank Turner, Blink-182, Less Than Jake; artists who put on a really great live show, and also look like they have a lot of fun on the road.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Bob Dylan, without a doubt. He's an icon, to be touring and making music for almost 6 decades. What would we speak about? Probably just listen in awe to whatever comes out of his mouth.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Yes! Of course.
