Spotlight On 'Doing Life Records'

Doing Life Records is a new DIY Alternative label based in Liverpool. Designed as not-for-profit the idea is to create a community from which a more positive light can be shone on the Liverpool music scene. Allowing for local artists to develop their craft musically and professionally and flourish.

Label manger Simon Gibbons is very clear with his intentions for the label - "Ultimately, after years of seeing the Alternative music scene in Liverpool struggling under the weight of closing venues, lack of promoters, living in the shadow of Manchester and more, I just felt it was important to take things into my own hands and do something about it. The overall goal is more than a label. We want to help the community through various initiatives in the future, focusing primarily on mental health in the younger population, and ideally becoming a central hub for the alternative scene to blossom, similar to perhaps DIY Space for London. The label is really just the start. We want to develop the next generation of musicians and prepare them for the real life of being a professional musician in the business. And also rock the fuck out too."

The label aims to be much more than just an outlet for artists, there will be expansions into podcasts and community projects as well as initiatives focusing on mental health.

They are currently working with 2 local artists who names can't be disclosed at this point and are also casually working with another artist (again no names just yet) and plan on collaborating with small DIY labels across the country on collaborative releases.

When all systems are go and the announcements for the respective artists and the planned releases are greenlit to be revealed you can count on 3 Songs & Out to provide all you need to know.

Until then pop to their Facebook page and drop them a like - https://www.facebook.com/doingliferecords/
