Interview with 'Take Today'

December 22, 2016

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Guitarist//Vocalist - Hey I’m Paul, I started the band along with a former member Gez Thomson back in 2012 during our time studying music.

Lead Guitarist - Hi I’m Alex, when I first joined the band we were a 3 piece and I was actually the Bass player for about a year and due to line up changes, we changed to a 4 piece and I took up the roll of playing Lead Guitar in the band.

Bass - Hey, I'm Pete. I was asked to join the band back in February/ March 2016, as the Bassist. Shortly after joining, we had started working on recording our album "Choices"

Drums - Hi, I'm Steve, and I first joined the band as a Bassist just before the recording of our second EP in 2014. After a slight lineup change, I took the role of the bands Drummer.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

We have all been playing in bands from a number of years, individually we have a mutual passion for music. We found our musical talents and inspirations at a younger age from listening to bands such as Foo Fighters, Muse and Queens Of The Stone Age to name a few…

Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.

Our latest release was our debut album “ CHOICES “ which was released on September 17th, it was recorded at the Foundry Music Lab by Sandy Jones who has recorded with many bands and produced an album for Wet Wet Wet. The reason why your readers should listen to our album is, if you’re looking for a diverse listening experience, thats very open and full of catchy riffs and big melodies then we would say this is the album for you! We have released this on all online platforms such as iTunes/Spotify and you can purchase this on our Big Cartel store.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why.

Paul - I would say growing up I used to follow Glasgow Rock band Twin Atlantic from 2008, first time I saw them was at the O2 ABC Supporting The Subways and not many people knew them, but its great to see that they are such a hard working band and that nothing is impossible as they have made many albums and are touring the world, I think it shows that handwork, being driven and passionate about something you love doing can pay off eventually.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

An energetic performance, big choruses, heavy distorted guitars and crowd sing-a-longs.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

We would love to go on tour with anyone, but if we had the choice we would have to say Foo Fighters, the reasons we'd would love to tour with this band is because Dave Grohl has been such an inspiring figure within the music industry in the last 20 years, because of this his touring experience and knowledge would be incredible and it would be a great honour to share the stage with such musical legends.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

As a band we all agree that Kurt Cobain would be an incredible musician to share time with, we would ask him his views on the modern day music industry and we would also ask how we would write his songs and with the changing of music, would he write his music in the same way, would he use technology or would he stick to his grass roots, these are questions we would all love to know the answers too as music might be completely different these days if he were still alive.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

If it's Christmas, and you haven't seen Hans Gruber fall from the Nakatomi plaza, is it truly Christmas?
