Manchester is a city famed for it's music and Voodoo Blood are putting to bed the incessant association of Oasis and The Moan Roses all on their own.

A band a little over a year old are taking over the unsigned scene in their home town. They have become local live favourites and with a performance at The Royal Albert Hall under their belts it''s no telling how far this band will go. Only one EP out and already filling venues and gaining huge slots. Let me tell you why.

'Anabolic Blues' is a short and sweet, no respite, kick in the face. It screams “This is us, Fuck You!”. It is pure unadulterated angst with the chiming, sultry, powerhouse that is Kim Jennett. She is the height of rock vocals, it's like Lzzy Hale meets the bluesy timbre of David Coverdale and the beauty of Robert Plant. Backed by a band of fuzzy and very 60's Blues Rock it is infectious to say the least. Sean Owens (Guitar) is reminiscent of Peter Green and has a truly vibrant sound throughout this release. The rhythm section is the definition of eclectic precision. This band know the focal points and how to voice them.

The EP is very short at around 17 minutes long, I am left wanting much more by the end. Although it has a distinct classic sound at his heart 'Anabolic Blues' also echoes the raw power of 90's Grunge. Most notably Rage Against The Machine's debut.

I am eagerly waiting to see how this band develops. I sincerely think their debut album could be a landmark in the Manchester music scene and I hope it is.

Go see. This band. Live.
