Interview With 'Xander & The Keys'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hello we're Xander & The Keys a 4 piece Indie-Rock band from Bournemouth, UK. The band was put together by Luke Adams of MBM MANAGEMENT in 2013 the line up has changed over the years but is the strongest its ever been!

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

Xander was working the local music scene as a solo act mainly turning up drinking and playing tunes on his guitar, The others have all been in a number of bands but all have all ways been involved or interested in music from a young age. The band are also all in full time work, Xander is a teacher, James is a greens keeper for a golf course, Richard is a builder and Dan is a full time guitar teacher.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

We have released several tracks in the past including our debut EP, But we have grown as a band so much that our new material is the most proud we have been about any music. It's really awesome. At the risk of sounding crass, it's more mature, they have darker tones but defo the most pop we've ever done.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

(Xander) met Status Quo because their tour bus woke us up, they had driven into a bog in a field and got this massive vehicle stuck. Then I went to speak with them and I wouldn't say I was awe struck but they were these really grumpy dudes. Haha. Meeting Toyah Wilcox was cool she is such a babe.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

It's a real intimate show. We put our all into every show. We have a certain style which could be a similar dynamic as dance music but with guitars so big build ups and heavy drops. It gets sweaty bring a spare t-shirt.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

It's a tough question because I don't know if I would want to ruin my perception of my idols but for me (Xander) it would be Kings Of Leon, pre 'Sex On Fire'. Those guys were wild.

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

An hour? It would have to be John Denver. We would drink whiskey and I would tell him not to get in his plane the next day.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Haha. Of course. Like Gremlins. "Yippee Kay Yay Motherfucker".

We just want to say thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.
