Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
We are Lucid AfterLife and we are here on your amazing blue planet to shake the kundalini serpent in your fragile spines using our intergalactic grooves until it pops out your skull and takes you away to the next world. With all that now said, I guess you could say we are also just regular dudes who love to rock. Our line up is Nat Jack (Lead Vocals), Thom Turner (Guitar), Miles Morison (Bass) & Matt Shearlaw (Hits Stuff).
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
I personally (Nat) spent lot of time searching for answers to life through mysticism and meditation and never thought I would ever be in a rock band, let alone a singer, it kind of just happened and I went with it. I think we all have music in our veins, Thom is a Berklee grad and also is a current axe swinger in Freya, Matt and Miles have been playing as long as they could walk and talk.
Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.
The 'Occult Mafia Mistress' EP is an exploration into the latent/hidden regions of the human sphere, the part of us we don’t see or ignore because it’s not part of the patriarchies plan for regimented mind control. OMM is a musical play with no story line and no other purpose but to exalt our deepest truths in regard to unprecedented intuition, dreams and sexuality.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
On the last record we made “I Am” we had Dave Stone from Rainbow come into the studio to do some keys. Ronnie James Dio has always been an inspiration to me so to be sitting with anyone from Rainbow was really inspiring, Dave is an amazing guy, and a genius on the keyboards.
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
I would not even call it a “show” seeing us live is an experience, an interplay of raw energy being channeled back and forth between the audience and the band, it is magic, with that words deepest meaning implied.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
Porcupine Tree. Not only are they incredible musicians but Steven can write a story that lasts a whole record and you are never lost, the melodies and lyrics are seamless you are just along for the ride. Also they are allegedly really fun interesting guys on the road, they also are not beholden to genre, they go all over.
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
I practice (Nat) and teach out of body experience, so I have had the chance to chill with Hendrix on the moon, he showed me a few guitar tricks, cool dude. We did not talk about a whole bunch, just jammed and chilled on the moon.
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
Anything starring Bruce Willis is a Christmas movie…
We just want to say thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.
