Interview With 'Between Symmetries'
Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?
Hello, we are Between Symmetries, a self loathing emo rock band from Savannah, Georgia. We started about two years ago, but this exact lineup has only been together for less than a year.
What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?
Michael: Most of us were/are finishing up school, but I think, although I suppose I can only speak for myself, playing music on a regular basis has been somewhat of a dream of ours. We definitely do have countless other dreams and aspirations, but this is a big one, at least for me.
Tell us about your latest Album and why our readers should check it out.
Our latest album was just recorded over the summer, called 'Silhouettes'. We plan on releasing it on September 30th. It's kind of eclectic in the sense that we explored a lot of different feels and almost genres, but definitely at the root of every song is the same unifying emotional core of the album as a whole, and the same Emo Rock sound. It's sad, is banging, it's groovy. This album feels like our natural progression, and we're very excited to see where it takes us.
Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?
Jack and Dan met the guys from Tiny Moving Parts and Frameworks after one of their shows, and we're definitely awestruck at how modest, friendly, and personable they were. Apparently a five band beer shotgun circle happened there also, so all in all pretty neat.
If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?
At some point, Dan will make his way into the crowd because he has wireless and he just thinks he's so cool. It will be a confusing night of sensuality and sadness. And music. And Fun!! And also alcohol.
If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?
In a group vote, we landed on either Balance And Composure or Movements, as we really really fuck with those bands right now.
You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?
Jack: John Frusicante, because he really got me into playing music, and because his solo records are so mesmerizing.
And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?
Die Hard really transcends our current system of classifying films by genre, as it is certainly a Christmas film, yet it is also so, so much more.
