Interview With 'Run Snowball Run'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

We are Run Snowball Run from Montreal, Qc, Canada. When RSR started it was a place I could run or escape to when I felt both happy and sad. After high-school, it grew out of a solo-project to a full-on band which had 3-4 line up changes leading up to 2013's final line up: Jeremy Robidoux (Lead Vocals, Acoustic Rhythm Guitar), Vince Roy (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Dakota James-Cooke (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Antoine Rochefort (Bass Seducer) and our spidermonkey Simon Bissonnette-Campeau (Drums, Vocals). The "Snowball" part of RSR's title comes from the idea that we are a growing project and as time goes, the story and the experiences collect themselves leading towards where we will end up. Playing a Post-Alternative Indie-Rock/Post-Hardcore style made up from the influences each member brings to the table.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

We were in separate bands and line ups, school and working but we've always appreciated music, both performing and listening but doing that alongside each other and feeling the chemistry makes us even more grateful to be in this together. We know where we are, we know where we would like to go, we have an idea as to how to get there, when in reality, all that matters is the moments we share together on our way to growth.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

Our debut EP 'Lobo' was released via iTunes and hard prints. Made up of 5 tracks that introduce the ideas and potential that we had to offer at the time, the experience was more beneficial than what we had thought, because we went in craving an EP and left with a hunger to push forward and see how far we can develop. It helped us find our sound and to start making blueprints as to how to solidify the foundation of our idea, leading to where we stand today. We are entering the studio before the end of August to record our new material & sound while aiming to get it released before the end of 2016.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Chase Huglin! Such a nice guy! I really enjoyed his performance, I think it was when he told me where he came from and how far he was that impressed me, as a musician and as an artist. He had great voice control and a unique tone that left me listening to the EP I had gotten on loop in my car for 4 months. Cool guy and cool sound!

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

A sales pitch and an idea of our idea. We meet, practice, discuss and think of ways to not only develop our compositions but also our relationship as a band and as a business. We work and aim to be on the same pages and also try to understand each other to have proper communication which helps with the energy and atmosphere at our performances. When we perform, we enjoy improvising introductions to some of our songs during performances which helps to change things up a little bit for our fans, we try to break down our compositions to help the interaction between our music and our audience.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

Nine Inch Nails, a tour lead by Trent is a tour I would trust. (Eye in the A)

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

Personally, Jared Leto, I feel that Jared is someone who is honest though I have never met him personally but I guess that why I picked him for that reason, to listen to what he has to say after having gone through what he, Shannon and Tomo had to go through with the court troubles, it would interesting to get a chance to work with him and witness his experience and gained knowledge in action, the way he sees thing.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie.
