Interview With 'Fivefold'

Firstly, introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Yo! We are Fivefold. Ryan Cheney - Vocals, Matt Benne - Guitar, Matt Amelung - Guitar, Derrick Huskey - Drums and Jorden "Coco" Murray - Bass. We formed in 2007 (slightly different lineup then and now) and have been hustling ever since. We are a rock band out of St. Louis MO. We specialize in cool riffs, BBQ & comedy.

What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

We've all held down different day jobs and still do - but writing and performing music while trying to positively impact peoples lives has always been the common goal for us.

Tell us about your latest EP and why our readers should check it out.

'Open Letter' is our 4th release as a band and the one that we are most proud of. We've always been a band with a wide range of listening preference - so we think this is one of our most diverse records. It has our hardest hitting song and the softest and most emotional song we've ever written. We'd love for your readers to check it out and embrace the message that we're trying to push. We are fun-loving, sometimes quirky, guys and we feel this album is very symbolic of that.

Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Our perspective is slightly different in the sense that we try to view our fans and people within the music community alike. We have definitely encountered many bands and musicians that are great and very supportive and have given us a ton of guidance along our journey. We are, however, still waiting to meet Bruce Willis.

If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

We try to always have fun. Our goal with our performances are to build a family like atmosphere for everyone in attendance and keep things high energy and emotionally captivating.

If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

We wouldn't all be able to agree on any SINGLE band or artist - we all have such different influence and taste. But we do agree that we would like to be on the road with like-minded bands who are looking to build a community with us!

You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about?

For all members, we'd probably consider different people...but we can all agree that for the whole band we'd choose John Feldman. He is a living legend. He's a top-notch record producer and musician. This dude has worked with the most successful artists of our era. We would love to pick this dudes brain and see what input he could give us to launch us further into the realm of awesomeness.

And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Yes. Bruce Willis is the closest thing we have to a real Santa Claus.
