Interview With Balzael Drummer Of 'Rising Dark'

We briefly spoke to Balzael, drummer of Italian Thrash band Rising Dark. Here is what he had to say.

Firstly, introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about the band and how you came to be?

Hi everyone I'm Balzael drummer from Rising Dark, we play fucking Thrash metal. Our band started in 2005, we were a bunch of metal kids trying to rock as hard as they could, playing covers and having fun. In 2007 we started writing our own songs and we chose the name for the band: Rising Dark. We have recorded our first album, named 'Apocalyptic', in 2009, but released it only in 2011 due to some management problems. In the last years we had a few line-up changes that slowed down the band but now we're back, stronger than ever, with our second full-length 'A World In Ruin'. What were you all up too prior to the band, was this always the chosen path or did you have other dreams and aspirations?

When we started we were only kids so we did not know what to do of our life, we just wanted to stay together as friends and have fun. We had this passion, so we decided to try to get together in a band. Tell us about your latest EP/Album and why our readers should check it out.

Well, we think that our thrash metal is not so usual, it's punchy, it's catchy, it's rude but it also has a experimental component so our tracks go from Testament's style into Death's one. We spent a lot of time trying to produce an original and unique album and we think we did it, another thing is the visual concept around it, we created a complete artwork with a great artist (and friend) that give truly a plus to our album. Have you ever come face to face with someone within the music scene who has left you awestruck and why?

Oh yeah for me personally one of the people that left me impressed was Tomas Lang (a famous drummer). He is a god, but he is so humble and nice, you can have a beer with him without embarrassment. If we were to head out to one of your live shows what can ourselves and others expect?

Well, a discrete amount of blood and energy! Live shows are our secret weapon, we give everything we have. If you had one artist/band that you could go on tour with tomorrow who would it be and why?

With no doubt Slayer if we are talking about "big bands", if we think of a more possible band a band of friends like Neurasthenia or Surge Assault. You can spend an hour with a musical icon living or dead, who would you pick, why and what would you speak about? I think I will answer... Ozzy Osbourne because he really have seen everything a man can see in the metal scene and would ask him about his experiences. And finally and most importantly is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

Without any doubt! We just want to say thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Well thank you so much for the support and for the great work, keep going and stay metal. Hail everyone.
